Persuasion by Jane Austen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I wish I had the writing skills to give a proper review of this book, but I don't. So here are my awkward and cheesy thoughts:
I loved this one! It was refreshing to read a love story where they had already met and fell in love previously and it didn't work out. This is the story of what happens 8 years later when fate puts them together again. Even though they both thought all hope was lost, time and space didn't lessen their love for each other. Everyone can have a happy ending!
My favorite quotes:
Captain Wentworth:
"A man does not recover from such a devotion of the heart to such a woman! He ought not; he does not."
"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight and a half years ago. Dare not say that a man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant."
Anne Elliot:
"All the privilege I claim for my own sex (it is not a very enviable one: you need not covet it), is that of loving longest, when existence or when hope is gone!"

I'm glad you liked it, Katie. You are making me want to read it AGAIN! But I can't... I have to get through one that is sooooo long and really not my favorite for my book club. :(
This is my favorite Jane Austen!!
