Two weeks ago I tripped over some of Jonah's toys and broke my toe. Ironically, it happened while I was cleaning Jonah's room. It was such a mess and I was tired of tripping over everything whenever I went in there. But that isn't the point of this post.
I put my training on hold for about a week and a half to let my toe heal. I am actually surprised at how fast it has been healing. I'm not limping any more, but when I ran a short 2 miles on Wednesday and 3 miles this morning, it still kind of hurts. Well, it only hurts when I try to run correctly (by landing flat footed and pushing off with my toes). I find myself running on the side of my foot, which can't be good. This week was supposed to be the height of my training with a total of 24 miles ran for the week (4,8, then 12 on Saturday). I only did 5. I'm not sure what to do. My race is in two weeks and I don't know if I should try to just do it anyway, or just give it up and find another race in a couple months. I wonder if I should just do it anyway. Maybe my confidence has suffered more than my physical ability to run. Or, should I not push it by trying to run too much and risk injuring my toe further. What should I do?!?
