Cupcakes

It doesn't happen often, but about once a month I just can't go to bed until I've baked something. It starts out as just a craving for sugar, but no pre-made sweets will do. I suddenly have to bake. Now.

Tonight I was getting some water on my way to bed, saw some frosting in the fridge, and knew that cupcakes must be baked to go with that frosting. So that is what I'm doing. Making cupcakes. As is usually the case, by the time that my late night treat is made, I don't even want to eat it. Just the baking soothes me and makes me happy.

Last summer when we were living in Jordan, the need to make brownies hit me about midnight. Most of our household was still awake (probably on the computer) and didn't think I was serious when I said that I was going to make brownies. When the chocolaty smell started drifting out of the kitchen, they started laughing shocked that I actually had made brownies. I really don't know where I am going with this story. I just wanted to capture it before old age robs me of all my memories. (Especially since neither Jerry or I kept a very good journal of our experiences in Jordan)

Anyway. If you want a cupcake, come on over. I have 2 dozen and I don't think Jonah and I will be eating them all.

What's new?

Here is Jonah giggling and him sticking out his tongue. I have been trying to capture both in video for some time. Sorry about the poor light and my annoying...sound... I am making. Jonah thought it was pretty funny so I kept doing it in order to capture the video.

So much has been going on and also so little. Jonah can a l m o s t sit up on his own. He is eating rice cereal, and pears when my mom is around. He loves it, but I am not lovin the new smells that are showing up in his diaper. yuck. He jabbers on all day, but mostly loves just hanging out with me. He loves sitting in the high chair instead of laying around on the floor. When he does lay on the floor, he rolls all over the place. He has no teeth yet, but has been drooling and chewing on stuff for a couple of months, so who knows when they will come. No signs of crawling yet, but I know that in his mind, he is planning all the things he wants to explore once he is mobile. I can just tell that he is really smart. He knows what cups are for and when he can get his hands on one he puts it up to his mouth and starts lapping like a puppy. When he even sees one of his bowls or spoons, he opens up his mouth waiting for a bite. He is just so much fun.

Here is a picture I've been waiting for since my camera was dropped in the lake. This is Jonah at Bear Lake, his first camping adventure. It was really cold at night, and I forgot a hat for him, so I put a pair of his pants on his head. It worked really great, oh and is so adorable!

Here is a picture of Jonah and my very best friend from Jr. High, Kelly Armstrong. We have been talking about how we need to get together for like 2 years now, and finally today she came over. I love her so much and think about her often. She is truly my soul sister and we always have so much fun together. Back in the day when she and I were inseparable, I really felt like I knew who I was and wasn't afraid of anything. (which I felt was a rare thing to feel at 14) We were so free and SO FUN! I am so glad that she is back in my life.

I know it's time to add a new post, but my camera is still broken, and I can't think of much to write about. Jonah is super cute. He loves to stick out his tongue and jabber on all the time. (wish I could post a picture)

For Labor Day we went up to Midway on Friday and stayed with my grandparents at their cabin. Saturday Jerry, Brad, and Joey ran the 10k and did really well. I think they had fun. We walked around Swiss Days for as long as we could stand the crowds, then went back to the cabin and had a fun day of making potato salad and playing games. It was really fun. I am so lucky that Jerry loves the cabin and playing games as much as I do. That is what I did ALL the time growing up, and not many in my family go anymore.

Sunday evening we went up to Mutual Dell for Dinner and a campout with Jerry's family. Dinner was AWESOME, but camping was rained out, so we all slept throughout the cabin, lodge, and trailer. We also had an amazing breakfast together. All in all we had a really fun Labor Day weekend.

Jonah had his first cereal a week ago and LOVES it. When I put him in the highchair now he immediately starts howling and making all kinds of sounds because he knows that means that food is coming. It is really adorable.

I finished reading Breaking Dawn and loved it! I can't help it, I love the Twilight books, although the middle two got a little melodramatic. I really liked this 4th book, but think that parts were a little too mature for young teen girls to be reading.
