Marine Mud Run

Yay! I found some pictures of the Marine Mud Run! Thanks to all those who took these pictures, because not a single one is mine. :)

Group of Ladies before we started

My team with our war faces on. Apparently, I don't know how to make a war face

Our team with our happy faces

My awesome friend Cari. The kids were all yelling "JUMP, JUMP, JUMP!" And she did. I love this picture!

and in go the feet...

and the splash!

I know this picture is horrible (or maybe it's really awesome?), but did I get mud in my mouth? No sir!!

Through the first mud pit.

and up the first hill where there was a marine spraying a fire hose in our faces.

Enter here: video of mud run and obstacles. I am only in the very beginning of the video, but it's fun to see all the obstacles.

Jessica and me sprinting to the finish

We rocked it!

Oh, and by the way, Jerry did it too. But this is the only picture I found of him. Well sorta. Jerry and his team are behind these two unknown guys. You can see the top of Jerry's mud covered head (yes, he completely submerged himself in the mud for some reason) above the boy's head on the right.
I cannot wait until next year. I seriously can't stop thinking about it and how much fun I had.

ideas, mud, and moving

I think of new and wonderfully awesome ideas for blog posts all the time. If I actually wrote and posted all of these amazing idea's I think this blog could be pretty awesome. But finding the 10 minutes to sit down at the computer, and remembering the idea simultaneously hardly ever happens. And when it does, my poor writing skills always leave me disappointed. So...I just wanted to let y'all know that your missing out on some great stuff. Maybe sometime I'll actually start getting down all the stuff I want to. Until then...This is all you get. Sorry.

Today I wish I could write an amazing post about the totally awesome Marine Mud Run Jerry and I did yesterday. But, we didn't have the camera (because we were both running through the mud) I'm still hoping that some people we know who took pictures will post them, but I know that the pictures in my mind of how I remember it don't exist. It's really too bad.

Here is a picture of a bunch of us ladies from my ward before we started. There were two more teams of women from my ward, another team of friends, and Jerry had a team too. So, needless to say "everyone is doing it" :) Hopefully I'll get more pictures soon :)

On another note...We're MOVING! No, not back to Utah:( We are literally going to be "Crossing Georgia" (wow, now the blog name is so appropriate, who saw that coming, right? I didn't) and moving to Columbus, GA which is on the western border of Georgia. I am really really bummed about leaving all of my amazing friends here, but Jerry will be going from a job that he REALLY hates to a job that will finally use all this Army training he's been going through for the last 6 years. We are pretty sure that Jerry is going to love his new job (he better, right? No pressure Jer) The other good thing is that Jerry's brother lives there so we'll get to spend lot's and lots of time with them, which is awesome, because we love them. And we like them too. ;)

Bisquick Cornbread

I got this recipe from Jessica Lindquist and I can't stop making it!
This "cornbread" is so good, it's almost cake. It's so quick and easy too. Yummy!

6 Tbsp. white cornmeal
2 cups Bisquick
1 cup sugar

Mix together well, set aside. In a separate bowl, whisk together the following:

2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/c cup melted butter

Fold two mixtures together, pour into a greased 9x13 pan, and bake @ 350 for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

Book Review: Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really really liked this book. I actually read it in high school, but didn't remember much about it. I liked it much better this time. Maybe because the world has already changed so much in the 12 years since I read it, or maybe because I'm older now and can appreciate the message so much more. I'm not sure why but I really seem to love all these dystopian novels. It reminded me of "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Giver". Easy quick read.

Nashville Half Marathon!

Well, I finally completed the half marathon! It was such a blast, I had the best time. Not only did I have such a fun trip, but my race went really well for me. It is really all in the training. I finished in 2:36:00. Which isn't the fastest time, but I felt great the whole time, which was my goal. I didn't care about my finishing time or my pace, I just didn't want to hit a point where I would just feel miserable, and I didn't!!!

Here we are seeing some of the sights of Nashville on Friday before the race.

This is the line to get into the expo (well part of the line, it went on and on and on, but luckily it moved really fast)

Bathroom or fitting room?
Starting Line. Can you see the 25,000 people behind us? There were 33,000 runners!!!! It took 40 minutes after the starting gun went off to even cross the STARTING line!!

We did it!!

Done finally!!
Danielle and Chris who did the full marathon, Paige and I who only did the half (thank goodness!)

Paige and I at the post race concert, Montgomery Gentry. It wasn't a band I normally would buy tickets to see, but it was a great show and just so much fun to go out and celebrate!

I am excited to do another race!!
