New Years in the Hospital

Tuesday morning Oliver ran a fever of 101, which for a 5 week old is pretty serious. We took him to the pediatrician, and it was decided to take him to the hospital. They needed to run some tests to rule out anything serious. They told us that they needed to keep him for 48 hours. It looked like everything was fine and we thought we would be going home this morning, but last night the culture for strep came back positive. They aren't sure if it's a false positive, so they want to run the test again. So we have to be here for 2 more days.

Oliver seems to be feeling much better though. His fever went down after a day and he seems to be healthy and happy. It looks like whatever infection caused his fever was caught early and we've been treating him with antibiotics. If the test turns out to be positive, we have to stay here and will just continue the antibiotics for a week.

So we sit. We wait.

We wish you all a very happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

Sad! I'm glad he's doing better and I hope you get home soon!

That is really sad. Is the infection in his blood? So scary for just a tiny guy. Hope all goes well. Call me if you need anything.

I am so sad for your family. Poor little Ollie. We will keep your family in our prayers - I certainly hope you don't have to stay in the hospital for a week!
