Solution!!!

I finally found the solution to my problem of my filthy house. Since Jonah was born, I have sorta been able to keep the house semi picked up (not to the level I would like, but enough to keep me from totally loosing it). However, finding the will and time to get the cleaning done (mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc.) has been a huge problem for me. Jonah just isn't the best napper, and when I do have some time, I usually will grab a shower or eat or I've got somewhere to be.

I have finally found a solution! I can just stop sleeping!! I will stay up after he goes to bed at about 9:30 and clean my house. If I stay up for 2 or 3 hours I can get a ton done, and still get to bed by 1. That is what I am doing tonight (although right now I'm wondering why I'm on the computer and not cleaning :)) I already got my bathrooms clean and swept the front room and dusted.

I know this isn't a big deal for anybody else, but for me I think that the peace of mind I get from having a clean house is better than those 3 hours of sleep.

We'll see.

Every once in a while I have the energy to stay up after the kids go to bed to clean, but I am usually brain-dead by that point. Go to town if you can do it!
When Josh got big enough he just started to help me "clean"... it's cute to watch... he and Kenna will play hockey with the swiffers.

Hey Katie, You should try reading Baby Wise book it helps keep your baby on a schedule so they can learn how to sleep better. Its an awsome book and it might help, so you can still get some sleep. Good luck I know how that feels I feel much better when things are clean to, but remember that is not the most important thing.

I know that this isn't sustainable long term. I mostly wrote this with tongue in cheek. Hopefully while Jerry is gone, I can just stay up only once a week. When he gets back I should be able to get everything done and sleep too.

Also, I failed to mention that Jonah sleeps from 10 pm to 10 am only waking once at 6am to eat. So I usually get plenty of sleep. I left out this detail because it makes most other mom's mad. I know it isn't fair. But like I said, he really doesn't nap very well :)

My son used to sleep the same way...12 hours at night and then he took two 2-hour naps during the day. He started sleeping clear through the night at 4 months.

Now he's 5 and he still sleeps 11 hours at night. He really does need a nap during the day, but he refuses to take one.

I put him to bed at 8 pm and then I do whatever I want and/or what needs doing until about midnight.

I'm glad you had such a great weekend! You deserved it, you've been working hard. As for your cleaning, I totally get it. I feel the same way most days, but I'm too lazy that late to accomplish anything. I hope you don't loose too much sleep!

I have the same problem as you do, I can keep up on picking things up, but NO time for any sort of deep cleaning. I've been tempted to hire out some Beehives in my ward to come over and clean for me once a week.
